A creative boost for a lean consultancy startup: RAW DC

RAW Development Consulting is now equipped with a brand and website that cuts through the noise and positions them as the high-end consultancy firm they aspire to be.
Introduction
Having previously collaborated on large projects with Ryan, we had fostered a trusting and open dialogue with him. For his new startup, he confided that he saw us as a ‘premium’ creative agency that was way out of his league. Keen to understand why Ryan felt he couldn’t utilise us for his new venture, we uncovered his initial concerns were the cost and scope of what would be required to launch his new startup.
After a short discovery session, we landed on the most cost-effective way forward: a new brand applied to a website theme, rather than a custom site build. We also agreed to hold off on marketing activities until the business was financially ready for it. Addressing Ryan’s concerns was key to kicking this project off on the right foot.
Brand identity
The first question we addressed was “how do we contrast the word RAW with elegant professionalism?”. Without enough consideration, this new brand identity could easily slip into cliché grunge territory and miss the mark with property investors.
For texture, we took inspiration from building materials. For the letterforms, we were inspired by brutalist architecture. The colour palette was inspired by glamorous interior design, resulting in a match made in heaven: navy blue and gold.
Website design & development
Cost, being a deciding factor in this project, meant we needed to take a nimble approach to RAW’s website. A custom site was out of the question, so instead, we shortlisted a handful of quality themes we could build on top of.
We settled on a robust theme that allowed us to best highlight Ryan’s achievements, previous projects and services offered by RAW.
Promotional Design
To ensure the utmost success for each branding project, we insist on some non-negotiables. However, in this instance, we worked within Ryan’s budget to deliver the bare essentials for his early-stage startup.
Business card, letterhead, email signature, social media assets, apparel, basic style guide to guide future collateral.
Ongoing Support
We continue to support RAW DC through our stress-reducing, marketing task-doing machine, Dalligator! Through this we offer Marketing Tasks: On Demand, Paid Search and Advertising, Social Media Management, WordPress Management and SEO services. All Dalligator customers have a dedicated marketing expert to help manage their marketing activity, eliminating the need for managing numerous contractors.
